In an enthusiastic effort to build agricultural community in our Sandy Mush valley and envision a future of collaboration and mutual care for our shared watershed and home, we are excited to announce that we are partnering with our friends and neighbors @ Mother Holler Farm to pasture our Turkeys for 2025.
Jessie and Calab of Mother Holler Farm are the best of folks, incessantly intentional about the land and critters that they care for, and with clear vision towards the healing of land, people, and community. Your Thanksgiving Turkeys are rotated through rolling pasture and forest edge (where you’d expect to find a nest of wild turkey eggs) and fed certified organic grains and seeds to supplement their foraging.
We’re partnering on feed buying, brooder bedding, land management practices, processing/packaging and sales. I’d say our product, our land, and our hope is only getting stronger by this collaboration.
Turkeys will be frozen and range from 8-18 lbs. Select from Small (8-13 lbs) or Large (13-18 lbs) below. Your $40 deposit will reserve your turkey and go towards your final purchase price upon pickup.
We believe that raising our birds to finish on fall forages makes for a better turkey. In WNC, November can surprise with inclement weather, minimal forages, and cold turkeys which means less than ideal conditions for pasturing birds. We are confident the flavor and nutrition of October finished birds frozen until Thanksgiving are superior to fresh late November finished birds.
Pickup on the farm on Sunday, November 23 from 2-5 pm. This pickup will be a holiday market with several other vendors, including food & goods from neighbors and other farms. Pick-up is first-come, first-serve within selected size range.
